Even though the first commercial application for silicone came during World War as a military uses.
Nowadays silicone fluids and certain silicones are one of the most important materials with wide range of
applications. Silicones are very familiar to human beings, for examples, breast augmentation(breast implants
with silicone-gel filled), cosmetic surgery, cosmetic powders and etc..
Based on Si-O-Si linkage, silicone polymers have the interness and ultraviolet resistance properties and also
have the moisture resistance & transparent properties. Therefore silicone fluids, especially linear
polysiloxanes primarily composed of methyl groups and silicone, are employed as coating materials in
cosmetic powders. Silicone coated powders exhibit many desirable properties in that they do not harmful to
the skin, and also have excellent dispersion characteristic to mix with other materials in cosmetic make-up
compositions. However, common silicone fluids used for cosmetic powder coating also have a few active
hydrogen on the location of methyl groups in their chemical structure. According to the activity active hydrogen
in cosmetic compositions, their applications to the cosmetic compositions are restricted.
To overcome above the restrictions, BO-KWANG developed a new silicone fluids which have the zero
hydrogen potential to exclude their activity in cosmetic compositions. Due to the zero hydrogen potential in
our specially designed silicone coated powders on the surface of Sericite, Mica, Talc, Silica, ZnO, TiO2,
Boron nitride, Bismuth oxychloride and others, they entirely do not show any of the harmful effects from
active hydrogen in cosmetic compositions but show many desirable properties of silicone coatings such as
very hydrophobic, transparent properties and also show above the described properties. We really would
like to recommend our customers to apply above the powders for a functional fillers in cosmetic compositions.
